Valentine’s Day 2008

So I’m being sneaky, and I’m gonna post this in a future date.
Because right now, I’m actually about to leave for the Wildcat’s place of employment — because apparently, nobody in that little burg had the capability to deliver anything — armed with Guiylan Chocolates, Lindoor Truffles, Ferrero Rocher (ya know, those little chocolate-y things in the gold foil that nearly every woman in the world loves, and nearly every guy in the world hates), a couple of special coffee mugs, the perfect card with a hand-written dedication, a dozen well-chosen roses and various other implements of “Giftery” (a word which I dedicate to G.W., since it was February 2003 when he made a similar faux pas when speaking about Iraq).
Yeah, she’s gonna be surprised.
She told me before that no one had ever given her roses, and it amazes me that that’s never happened. She deserves them, and always has. How can anyone say they love someone and not give them such a simple gift now and again? What’s wrong with people?
I had a great idea for a Valentine’s Day gift, and had been working on it quite dilligently, but left in the hands of someone else, it got ruined at the last minute. I was pretty despondent, so I made a video with a song, words of encouragement, photos, etc. While she appreciated it, I’m sure she didn’t appreciate having to re-apply her make-up. Too happy? Sorry, hon.
It truly amazes me that I finally end up with someone who actually
*appreciates* the gestures I make, because all in all, no one ever has. Sure, they’ve used the stories about them to gloat to other people about what a great guy they have/had, but sometimes, a “Thank you” would have gone a long way. It is that history which nags, and tells me I better quit going so over-the-top, tho, lest I spoil another one… but it’s kinda hard to stop being myself:
I’m a die-hard Romantic. I enjoy that shit.
(Wow, I love that quote. That’s almost oxymoronic — or maybe just moronic. Whatever, it’s perfect!)
As for the Romance, well … she deserves it.
And so, a Happy Valentine’s Day to everyone, because you’ll get this late so the surprise isn’t ruined.
