One of the guys I read in my war college days (and continue to read) was a strategic analyst named Thomas Barnett (http://www.thomaspmbarnett.com/weblog/ - I have a few problems with Barnett, but by and large he has some good stuff). He had this perfect explanation for the aforementioned conspiracy theorists (such as Spooked and his ilk):

"Conspiracy theories in general are attempts by people to explain complexity. Instead of acts of God, they become giant conspiracies of all-powerful men. All I can say is that I've met all these alleged conspirators, worked for a few, and gotten to know first hand virtually all of the organizations named in such things, working for a few, and life is so much more tragically boring and sad than the conspiracy types can handle.

So they tell their stories to console themselves about their ignorance.

You eat junk, you get fat. It's as simple as that. Stay away from the junk food."

Just about nails it - an inability to handle complex events in this world, so they dumb it down to their lowest common denominator, damn the facts.

There is plenty of eye witness acounts, and evidence. Of course, if you are determined to not take anyone’s evidence, you won’t. Everything is a conspiracy, but then, I also read that this denial of the Pentagon crash is also a goevernment lie to take our minds off other things… You can’t win, but check HERE for plenty of evidence to chew on.

He gave you the straight answer telling you very clearly where it was and stating where he was when he saw it. I also witnessed it while driving in from Springfield but disgaree about the description of a parking lot on 395. At least in the few minutes prior anyway. Then again I was also northbound and before the parkway where Kelter was obviously southbound. Speaking of believing everything you see on tv I certainly don’t recall the Bush administration having ever said anything about Saddam being linked to 9/11 but do remember many of the party’s proponents polarizing this issue and hinting in that direction. Bush has made plenty of mistakes which need to be focused on without making things up.

By the way, I’m curious– how many of the people here who think the US government had nothing to do with 9/11 also think Saddam had something to do with 9/11 and that we invaded iraq because of its link to 9/11?

Why can't I get a simple answer regarding what exactly Sam Kelter saw on 9/11 at the Pentagon? Specifics would be very helpful.

But it’s so much easier to imagine our vast powerful government contriving of this charade and deluding the cities of New York and Washington, as well as the rest of us. This sort of conspiracy is not a hard task. Look at how well they handled Katrina! C’mon, piece of cake!

It amazes me that people can really be as stupid as to believe that 9/11 was faked or whatever other crazy theory they'll come with next week.

While I was not physically in New York, Pennsylvania, or Washington D.C. when it happened, I was watching it on live TV and listening to it on live radio, from trusted media sources. I could hear the sorrow and anguish in the voices of the newscasters who were reporting the event live on the scene.

I WATCHED the damn planes run into both buildings of the World Trade Center. I watched them fall.

My words of advice for those who think that this didn't happen: Seek psychiatric care immediately. You have lost complete touch with reality. As your local shrink to find some nice meds for you so you can join the rest of us who recognize and understand what is really going on in the world today.
